After Camp
What a fun time!
As L. said, Guy has a great way of teaching to all levels and he certainly did that on Saturday. I’ve personally “failed” twice at trying to learn the slide, and on Saturday stuff was really starting to click. There was a lot to unpack from that 2.5 hour session, but in a very good way.
Thanks to B. and L. who came all the way from SA and Houston, respectively. Appreciate you guys making the effort and hope to see you again down the track.
For those of you able to come back for the house concert and jam, what an amazing time. Guy’s songs are so needed right now with all the sorrow in Texas and craziness in our country and the world — nice to see a lot of joy in that room. And thanks, Guy, for sticking around for the jam, too. Super cool to have you play lead on songs I play with my friends every week and for you to continue to share your gifts late into the evening.
Speaking about down the track, Guy who’s already done camps on: ukulele, harmonica, open tuning and acoustic slide, is now talking about finger picking and electric slide camps. And I’d love to have him back for another ukulele camp. Hopefully we can work some of that out so stay tuned!
Thank you so much for supporting Austin Band Camp.

about Guy
From Medium.com: Guy Forsyth is an Austin, Texas-based musician, singer, storyteller, and songwriter. Guy has won several Austin Music Awards, including best vocalist, while delivering diverse roots music, especially the blues, both classic and original, in which the story always comes first. He earned a ten-year residency at legendary Antone’s nightclub, “the home of the blues,” and recorded several records on the house label. He has toured the U. S. and Europe and opened for Ray Charles, Robert Cray, Dr. John, B. B. King, and Lucinda Williams, among many others.
To his mastery of the guitar, harmonica, and musical saw he brings an unforgettably passionate and plaintive vocal soundscape. As Texas Music Magazine observed, “The insanely talented multi-instrumentalist can put on one hell of a show, alternately dazzling and amusing audiences on a musical journey from ragtime jazz and Delta blues to socially conscious folk and rollicking modern rock.” As powerful as his records remain, Guy’s live shows will make you whole.
