After Camp
Hi folks,
I wanted to say thanks to Gwil for sharing his talented self with us. It’s amazing how much great advice Gwil was able to serve up in a single afternoon. I’m really enjoying playing through the changes he suggested for my song. I heard a lot of great feedback from folks afterwards.
I also wanted to thank John and Carol for hosting us so aplombly. That space has so much good energy and it starts with John and Carol who do so much for the music community in Austin. If you’re not on their mailing list, you’re missing out!
I wanted to thank all you brave talented songwriters who came and shared your songs. Some of us are braver than others, though. Writing great songs on the day of and during the camp — awesome. Playing in front of people when that’s not your thing — bravo. Without you, there would be no Austin Band Camp, so thank you, thank you, thank you!
We’re fortunate to live in this community and I’m grateful all y’all came out and did what you did last weekend.

Song Doctor with Gwil Owen
Bring Gwil an unfinished song and he’ll help it along.
Gwil Owen's songs have been covered by Toni Price, Keith Richards, Levon Helm, Irma Thomas, Little Feat, and Jack Ingram, among others. He was an Academy Award nominee in 1999 for the song "A Soft Place to Fall" (co-written with Allison Moorer) featured in Robert Redford's movie The Horse Whisperer.
Gwil will break down one of his songs and share how it came together.
Each participant will play an unfinished song for Gwil and the group and get feedback and ideas to think about.
Beer, soft drinks, and very light snacks provided.
Limited to only 12 participants.
